Pearl Jam is a legendary rock band from Seattle, Washington. They formed in 1990, just as the grunge scene was taking off. To begin with, they released Ten in 1991. It featured hits like “Alive,” “Even Flow,” and “Jeremy.” As a result, Ten became one of the best-selling debut albums of all time.
Following this success, they released Vs. in 1993 and Vitalogy in 1994. Both albums topped charts and deepened their sound. Moreover, the band refused to make flashy music videos or chase fame. Instead, they focused on their music and powerful live shows.
In the years that followed, Pearl Jam explored new directions. No Code (1996) and Yield (1998) showed their willingness to evolve. During this time, they also gained a reputation for fierce independence.
Then, in the early 2000s, they released Binaural (2000) and Riot Act (2002). These albums reflected personal and political themes. Meanwhile, their concerts grew in intensity. Soon after, the 2006 self-titled album Pearl Jam brought a fresh, aggressive sound.
Later, Backspacer (2009) and Lightning Bolt (2013) continued their momentum. With each release, they balanced punk energy with emotional depth. Songs like “Just Breathe” and “Sirens” became fan favourites. In support of these albums, they launched the Backspacer Tour and Lightning Bolt Tour, filling arenas around the world.
After a brief hiatus, the band returned in 2020 with Gigaton. It was bold, urgent, and timely. Although the pandemic delayed the tour, fans stayed committed. Eventually, the Gigaton Tour kicked off in 2022 and reignited their live magic.
Most recently, they’ve returned with Dark Matter. The sound is louder, darker, and more explosive. The Dark Matter World Tour kicked off in 2024 and continues into 2025. Fans across the globe are experiencing a new era of Pearl Jam.
Throughout their career, Pearl Jam has headlined massive tours, like the Ten Tour, Vitalogy Tour, and Lollapalooza. Each era brought its own style, message, and artwork.
